Why you should be getting a skirting:
- To hide the joint area between the wall and flooring, making the flooring aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
- Protect the lower part of the walls. They form a barrier at the bottom of the wall. When you move furniture or vacuum
- Hiding wiring between the space of skirting and the wall.
Why you should not be getting a skirting:
- Regular cleaning and repainting required.
- Skirting board can collect dust. As skirting board is close to the ground and naturally exposed to dust and dirt. Thus, regular cleaning is required with skirting board.
- Difficult to remove. It is considered to be a permanent fixture. Using strong adhesive, removing the skirting will result in tearing the paint apart. Usually skirting will run across all four walls of the room. Thus, a paint job will be needed when you decided to remove skirting.
