Is it recommended to install LVP flooring for toilet floor?
You have decided to get Luxury Vinyl Panel (LVP) or Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) flooring for your new HDB vinyl flooring. You are now thinking of the aesthetic of the house. You want to your interior design consistent and your room designs should complement with each other. Should you lay LVP flooring for toilet floor since LVP flooring is waterproof?
The short answer is it is possible but not recommended.
Why it is not recommended to have LVP flooring lay on the toilet floor?
Although LVP flooring is waterproof, the humidity is higher in the toilet. While it may not be direct contact, the adhesive of the flooring will also be constantly being wet.
It is also well recommended that while cleaning, there is a need to clean off any spills immediately due to pooling of water and which may seep into the flooring. While in the toilet, permanent pooling of water is highly likely. With the permanent pooling of water, seepage is even likely which will also void the warranty of your vinyl flooring.
Damage will include moulding which will make a very foul smell due to the mould.
Bonus: LVP Flooring for Kitchen?
The question will be first will you use the kitchen heavily with cooking? It will not be recommended if it is heavily used. This is due to the possibility of spillage is higher with your condiments and sauces. A lot of our condiments though is not highly alkalic or acidic, they are still alkalic. With the flooring being consistently exposed to the different PH value of condiments or even fruits (Example: lemon and citrus fruits) flooring will be affected.
Same with the toilet, if you use your kitchen heavily, there will be a consistent exposure to water which will also cause the flooring to get mouldy.
Though not recommended on toilet and kitchen floor. LVP flooring has a lot of advantages as well. With the advantages, complementing flooring in apartments.
