How to clean vinyl flooring?
2025 is just 2 weeks away and the annual spring cleaning had to be done. So you hear that maintaining and clean your LVP flooring wrongly is going to void your warranty. But how do you maintain your vinyl flooring then?
How to clean vinyl Flooring
1) Sweep or vacuum the LVP flooring
Sweeping or vacuum removes large debris on the floor. By removing the large debris also helps our second step to clean the LVP flooring.
2) Mop the floor
Mop the floor using clean water and neutral disinfectant floor cleaner. Avoid oil based or acidic floor cleaner. Using oil base or acidic floor cleaner will strip off the top wear layer as the LVP’s top wear layer will be dissolved by oil based or acid cleaner.
3) Annual deep cleansing
A lot of LVT or LVP Singapore has texture on the panel. Dust will be collected in between the crease of LVT that get you the texture. A deep cleaning service, using a floor scrubbing machine, will get rid the collected dust.

Things to avoid when you clean vinyl flooring?
What do you need to look out for? With the following cleaning methods will void your warranty
1) Avoid using steam mop
Steam Mops requires high temperature to operate. With higher temperature that will cause the adhesive that binds all layers to melt. This will result the wear layer to peel
2) Avoid using acidic cleaner or oil-based cleaners
These 2 cleaners will strip away the UV coating or the wear layer for the flooring. This is due to the chemical reaction which dissolve the wear layer for the flooring.
3) Avoid wax on your LVP flooring
LVP flooring has this UV coating (also known as ultraviolet coating) as a wear layer. With this UV layer, a thin film that was bind to wear layer. This results in hard shiny finish. Removing the need for any further polishing required.
Extra tips to clean vinyl Flooring:
1) Removing stubborn stains
To remove stubborn stains, baking soda is an effective choice at removing stains and protecting the floor.
2) Wipe spills immediately.
While wiping spills immediately will make removing stains easily. Wiping the spills will improve the shelf life of the vinyl flooring comparing to those who don’t. Most if not all vinyl flooring now is waterproof. However, if spills or not removed immediately, the area where the spillage is may cause seepage to flooring at the seams or edges. Resulting in damaging the flooring
